Installation Instructions

macOS

Download

Choose the appropriate version for your Mac:

  • Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4): Download Ask-PDF-Offline_aarch64.dmg
  • Intel: Download Ask-PDF-Offline_x64.dmg

Not sure which Mac you have? Check "About This Mac". If it says "Apple M1" or newer, choose Apple Silicon.

Installation Steps

  1. Open the downloaded DMG file
  2. Drag "Ask PDF Offline" to your Applications folder
  3. Launch the app from Applications

Windows

Download

Download from the Microsoft Store:

  • Search for "Ask PDF Offline" in the Microsoft Store
  • Or use the direct link from the download page

Installation Steps

  1. Click Get or Install in the Microsoft Store
  2. Wait for the download and installation to complete (~6-7 GB)
  3. Launch "Ask PDF Offline" from the Start menu

No additional downloads or configuration required.

Troubleshooting

macOS: "App is damaged and can't be opened"

This is a Gatekeeper false positive. Run this command in Terminal:

xattr -cr /Applications/Ask\ PDF\ Offline.app

Then launch the app normally.

System Requirements

Ask PDF Offline is designed for macOS and Windows, bundling everything needed to run a local AI model offline. No internet connection required after installation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Operating System: macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Processor:
    • macOS: Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel x86_64 (2015 or newer)
    • Windows: x64 processor with SSE4.2 support
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 10 GB free disk space

Recommended Specifications

For the best experience, we recommend:

  • Operating System: macOS 13.0+ (Ventura) or Windows 11
  • Processor: Apple Silicon M1 or newer
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
